The Mount Pleasant Fire Department is giving locals tips for getting through storm season including emergency preparedness and where to sign up for real-time alerts. The first tip from MPFD is to do research on risks associated with our area.

MPHS FFA teams compete at State

Two Mount Pleasant High School FFA teams recently competed in State FFA Career Development Events. MPHS sent a team of four to the State Plant ID competition at Texas Tech University on April 23 and another team of four to the State Forage Evaluation contest at Sam Houston State University on April 29.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension recognizes National High Blood Pressure Education Month. When you go to the doctor, they always check your blood pressure. You might ask, “What are they checking?” According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, “Every time your heart beats, it pumps blood through vessels, called arteries, to the rest of your body. If you blood flows at higher-than-normal pressures, you may have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension.”
