MPHS Electrical students bring home ribbons from state

The MPHS Electrical students competed at the SkillsUSA State contest in Corpus Christi on March 30–April 4, 2022. In both the Commercial Wiring Exhibit category and the Innovative Job Exhibit category, the students received Superior Blue ribbons. The MPHS Electrical program is directed by Tim Davis.

Morris County Retired School Employee Association gives NTCC scholarship

Members of the Morris County Retired School Employee Association recently visited Northeast Texas Community College for their April meeting. The group presented Dr. Jonathan McCullough (right), NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement, with a $500 check to support the Work4College Program. Attending and posing for the photo were (from left): Billye Foster, Martha Baker, Susan Loffer, Claudia Traylor, Melba Craig, Joan Cook, Pam Spann, and Bertha Cole. In addition to their $500 gift, NTCC will received an additional $1,000 from special matching grants through NTCC’s East Texas Giving Day campaign. Chapel Hill Education Foundation award Teaching Innovation Grants

The Chapel Hill Education Foundation awarded the 2022 Innovative Teaching Grants of over $24,000 today on all three campuses. CHEF Innovative Teaching Grants are designed to encourage, facilitate, recognize and reward innovative and creative approaches to the accomplishment of district objectives.

National Zucchini Bread Day

National Zucchini Bread Day is observed today, April 23, 2022. It is a day to enjoy Zucchini bread. Zucchini is a good source of vitamin B-6 which helps with immune function and brain health. County Agent, Lou Ann Rollins says, “I can use all the immune and brain help I can get. Fruits and vegetables are great medicines, so eat 1½-2 cups of fruit and 2½-3 cups of vegetables each day”. Other beneficial nutrients include fiber, Vitamins C and A, potassium, and folate.

Titus County Cares celebrates volunteers

TCC’s Food4kids team enjoyed treats for being the sweetest volunteers around on Tuesday during National Volunteers Week.
