The Mount Pleasant soccer slogan for the 2022 season was “set the record straight.” A team accustomed to success saw its season end earlier than they’d hoped last year, with the team falling in the bi-district round. This season, the Tigers looked to set the record straight with a return trip to the regional tournament by defeating another East Texas soccer power.

The Pewitt Brahmas stayed on pace for a huge matchup Tuesday evening with two district wins. Friday’s performance probably meant a little more to Pewitt pitcher Dayton Granberry.

The CHAAMP Hawks snapped a 3 game losing streak this past Friday, soaring past the Excel Christian Eagles in walk-off fashion, 6-5. The Hawks led throughout the contest after putting up three first inning runs, and adding two more in the third, but Excel Christian tied the game with 2 runs in the 5th and final frame.

The Mount Pleasant Tiger baseball team picked up two wins in their last three games over the last 10 days. The Tigers traveled to Van to meet the Vandals and picked up a 4-1 win.

The Mount Pleasant golf teams wrapped up district play this week with the both the Tigers and Lady Tigers looking to advance to the next round. The district competitions were held at The Tempest Golf Club near Gladewater.

The Mount Pleasant track teams know that every meet is preparation for the upcoming district, area, regional and state track meets. To that end, the Tiger and Lady Tiger squads headed to Texarkana for the Paul Parr Relays, hosted by Liberty-Eylau.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers each had a player named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region Team for 2021-2022 season. Junior guard Payton Chism was selected for the second consecutive year as he led the Tigers to their third straight appearance in the UIL Regional Tournament.

Pretty soon, the matchup between the Rivercrest Lady Rebels and the Harts Bluff Lady Bulldogs will likely be a district game. The two teams got an early look at each other this past Friday in Rivercrest.

Facing a strong, nearly incessant wind and a stout Midlothian attack, the Mount Pleasant soccer team anchored itself in its defense. That defense stood tall for more than an hour of game time to make sure an early goal stood up and pushed the Tigers to the regional quarterfinals.
