CHAAMP tops Harts Bluff, Shreveport, Falls to Tyler

The CHAAMP Hawks baseball team has had a solid run of games lately, knocking off the Harts Bluff Bulldogs 13-7, the Shreveport Homeschool Force 29-5, and losing a tight match to the Tyler Heat 7-4. In the first contest, the Bulldogs hung around with the Hawks and even had the bases loaded down 6 in the final inning, but the Hawks, behind pitcher Kane Hefner’s two clutch strikeouts, survived.

Tigers fall to Wakeland in regional soccer tournament

In a regional tournament that included four top-20 teams in 5A, including three of the top four, it was always going to be important to play on even terms for as long as possible. For most of the 80 minutes in their game against a large, fast Frisco Wakeland team, the Mount Pleasant Tigers were able to do just that as the Tigers looked to overcome the one team that has hurt them most in the regional tournament.

Tigers pound Pine Tree, fall to Sulphur Springs

The Mount Pleasant Tiger baseball team split their district games last week to move their district record to 6-2 and keep vying for a district championship. The Tigers took care of Pine Tree on Tuesday posting a 12-6 victory before falling just short against Sulphur Springs 3-2.

Bull to run with Steers: Hill signs with Texas College

Pewitt senior running back Deiontray “Black” Hill signed his letter of intent to play football at Texas College last week. Texas College is a historically black college founded in 1894 and is affiliated with the CME (Christian Methodist Episcopal) Church. The Steers are coached by former Dallas Cowboy defensive end Greg Ellis and are part of the NAIA’s Red River Athletic Conference with Langston, Panhandle State, Wayland Baptist, Ottawa-Arizona, Arizona Christian, Texas Wesleyan and Southwestern Assemblies of God. Beard named TGCA All-State

The accolades continue to roll in for Mount Pleasant junior guard Paris Beard. Beard was recently one of fifty players selected to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State Basketball team for the 2021-2022 season. She was also selected to play on the 5A-6A Red team in the All-Star game to be played on July 12 at Arlington Lamar High School.

Tiger boys win Mickey Mayne Relays; Lady Tigers finish 5th

The Mount Pleasant varsity track teams traveled to Morris County for one final meet before the district meet. The Tigers took part in the Mickey Mayne Relays April 8, joining hosts Daingerfield, Tatum, Jefferson, Gladewater and fellow district squads Texas High and Marshall.

Rebels extend win streak to 5; Lady Rebels win over Detroit, A-G, lose to C-P

The Rivercrest Rebel baseball team is in the midst of a winning streak with three more tallies added to the slate to up the streak to five games. The Rebels found themselves in a fight defending their home turf against Linden-Kildare to start the month of April, as the Tigers battled back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game at four going into the bottom of the seventh.

Lady Tiger Softball continues to roll

The Lady Tiger softball team had hit a recent rough patch, losing four straight games (three district match ups) over the last few weeks but Mount Pleasant got back in the win column with a current three-game winning streak.
