MP soccer teams kick off playoff runs this week

Both Mount Pleasant High School soccer teams have made the playoffs and will kick off their journeys toward the state tournament this week. The Tiger boys (11-9-1) will look for a second consecutive trip to the regional tournament and start their run at 7 p.m.

Tigers fall at home to Hallsville

The Mount Pleasant Tigers welcomed Hallsville to town Friday, but a rough second inning led to a tough finish as the Bobcats picked up a 13-3 win over the Tigers. Hallsville scored five runs in the second inning to extend their lead to 7-1 and closed the game with four runs in the fifth inning.

The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers played their first district game at home Friday afternoon against district co-leaders Hallsville, looking to stay within striking distance of the district lead early on.

MPHS Anglers advance to Regional tournament

The Mount Pleasant High School Bass Fishing Team finished the regular season at the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament on Lake Tawakoni on March 11. Five teams from MPHS participated in the tournament with 2 teams reeling in fish and earning placements.

Rebels run district record to 2-0; Bulldogs fall in ‘home’district opener at NTCC

It was a tale of two teams at different points of their respective programs. The Harts Bluff Bulldogs are in their first official UIL year. Coming off the program’s first-ever win last week, the team is looking to build momentum in what is a tough baseball district.

Tigers fall to Scrappers; win district opener at Marshall

The Mount Pleasant Tiger baseball team hosted an out-of-state opponent before kicking off district play as the team battles for a return to the playoffs after a strong season last year. The Tigers concluded last week with a home date against Nashville (Ark.) on Friday.
