Sports Editor All season, Pewitt volleyball Coach Engra Patt-Mason has said her team would be successful as long as they kept mental errors out of their game and remained consistent. Unfortunately, the consistency that has marked much of the beginning of the season escaped the Lady Brahmas Tuesday as they fell on the road at Chisum, 3-0 (11-25, 20-25, 25-27).

Tiger XC takes second at season opener

The Mount Pleasant Tiger and Lady Tiger cross country teams both finished second in their first meet of the season in Greenville as they prepare to rev up for the pursuit of another district championship. The Tigers sent twelve runners into the Varsity and JV race and the Lady Tigers had seven competitors compete in the JV division.

Sports Editor An impressive collection of teams descended upon Hughes Springs this weekend for the annual Hughes Springs volleyball tournament. Joining the host Lady Mustangs were the Pleasant Grove JV, Wolfe City, Arp, Liberty-Eylau, Rivercrest, Pewitt, Elysian Fields, Harts Bluff, Como-Pickton, Linden-Kildare, Clarksville, DeKalb, Alba-Golden, East Texas Home School and Ore City.

Mount Pleasant traveled to Van for tournament play over the weekend, with the Lady Tigers finishing fourth overall in a strong field.

The Mount Pleasant Tigers kick off the 2022 season Friday against an old rival for the first time in more than a decade when they take on the Pittsburg Pirates in what has been termed the Black and Gold Classic.
