Seven local basketball players were named to the TABC All-Region Team in their respective classifications. Mount Pleasant’s Kelcey Morris and Peyton Chism were named to the 5A Region II all-region team. Lady Tigers Paris Beard and Aziyah Farrier were named on the girls’ side.

I rounded the corner and there he stood, posturing like a human version of a great blue heron. Power Poles down and eyes fixed on the shallows, Todd Driscoll was clearly on point. There was a bass tending a nest down there and the angler was watching the fish closely to get a read on its mood.

Lee Beuershausen of Marble Falls and Carson Bowen of Burnet reeled in a whopper limit weighing 36.59 pounds to top a field of 139 boats in the Bass Champs South Region team event held March 11 on Lake O.H. Ivie. They banked $37,600, including contingency bonuses.

Pewitt teams fall to Hooks in district openers

The Pewitt baseball and softball teams opened the district schedule last week as they welcomed Hooks to town. Unfortunately, the Hornets and Lady Hornets did the stinging as they won both games. The Brahma baseball team fell to the Hornets, 13-1.

Hawks open baseball season with walkoff win

The CHAAMP Hawks Varsity baseball squad hit the diamond for the first time this past Tuesday, winning a tight one over NTAA district rival ETHS Chargers in dramatic fashion. The game was a pitchers duel from the first pitch on.

Lady Devils fall in opening district tilts

The Chapel Hill Lady Devils will rely on a younger softball team than usual this season and are battling in a tough district. Chapel Hill started district play last week with consecutive road games before opening the home district slate Monday evening.

Everything Texas Ranch Run

The Everything Texas Ranch Run is presented by Herschel’s Restaurant. The run will be on the legendary Priefert Ranch in Mount Pleasant on March 25, 2023. This is the sixth year for the ranch run at the Priefert Ranch and each year this event attracts approximately 350 runners per year.
