Texas public student scores in standardized testing continue to improve since the pandemic, but more than half of those taking the test still struggle with math and just under half read below grade-level, the Texas Tribune reported.

Two local teams opened the volleyball season against each other Tuesday as the Chapel Hill Lady Devils hosted the Rivercrest Lady Rebels to kick off the season. Both teams reached the playoffs last year and are looking for returns to the postseason.

Justin White (left) and Drew Moore recently caught and released this massive 98.7 pound flathead catfish with their bare hands while noodling at Lake Tawakoni. The men plucked the fish out of an underwater cave in 14 feet of water at the base of a bridge.

Adrenaline Junkies

A nasty thunderstorm packing big wind, rain and dangerous lightning rolled across Lake Tawakoni on the afternoon of June 22. Justin Wright of Kaufman and Drew Moore of Chandler were on the water doing some noodling at the time.
