Tigers win opener over Tyler, 54-40

A strong defensive first half put the Tigers ahead in their home opener last week as Mount Pleasant never trailed to get their first win of the season against Tyler. The Mount Pleasant defense held Tyler to 28% shooting from the field as they were only able to muster up 12 points in the first half.

Area teams compete over Thanksgiving break

While a number of teams took the Thanksgiving break off, some area squads got a few games in on the court. A recap of the holiday week of games: The Chapel Hill Lady Devils hosted several East Texas teams as part of the Chapel Hill Invitational. Also taking part were Longview, Marshall and Joaquin.

Tigers finish fourth at Mavs Fall Classic

The Mount Pleasant Tigers know they must test themselves early and often each season to prepare for a strong playoff run. After falling in the championship game two years ago in the Dallas Mavs Fall Classic held in Frisco, the Tigers returned once again to play some of the top teams in the state.

Playing against a former district opponent is always a tough task as the Greenville Lions and Mount Pleasant Tigers know each other well being common foes. Fortunately, the Tigers 14-5 career record versus Greenville played more into the game than anything else.

The Pewitt Lady Brahmas were honored by the coaches of District 14-3A during the release of the All-District team, announced last week. Taliyah Brown was named Co-Newcomer of the Year by the district coaches. Named to the All-District first team were Ashtyn Boyd and Makenzie Bottoms.
