MPJH band students selected for Middle School All-Region Band

Twenty-one Mount Pleasant Junior High School band students have qualified for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region IV Middle School All-Region Band, up from twelve last year. Twelve students earned chairs in the Symphonic Band and nine in the Concert Band. MPJH boasted four 1st chair placements including Jamaree Armour, Adriel Bagsic, Odalys Mejia, and Isaiah Shepherd. And for five students including Bagsic, Sebastian Contreras, Ana’Liece Guerrero, Mejia, and Alfredo Santillan, this would be the second year in a row for them to be selected for the All-Region band.

NTCC rodeo ends fall season

The Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo Team headed South November 10th-12th for the Sam Houston State University Rodeo. This was the fifth and final Rodeo of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region Fall season.

MPHS National Honor Society organizes food drive

The members of the National Honor Society (NHS) at Mount Pleasant High School held its annual food drive in October and November in conjunction with Communities in Schools (CIS). Students and their families brought canned, bagged, and boxed food items to this year’s NHS induction ceremony. In the end, MPHS NHS members were able to create forty boxes that were shared with families who have students at MPHS. Each of the families was given a box full of canned, boxed, and bagged goods including beans and rice, stuffing mix, flour, sugar, and a turkey donated by Pilgrim’s, their second year providing turkeys to the drive.

Priefert set to make its mark on NFR

The National Finals Rodeo is just around the corner, running from December 1 through December 10. Priefert Manufacturing of Mount Pleasant is the Official Rodeo and Ranch equipment supplier of the PRCA which is the sanctioning body that hosts the NFR. The NFR is held at the Thomas and Mack Center on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Priefert Rodeo and Ranch team has 13 athletes competing this year for the NFR.
