MPPD to host Citizen's Police Academy

The Mount Pleasant Police Department will be hosting its Citizen's Police Academy this summer. The seven-week instructional course will take place from May 30 to July 18 on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

According to MPPD, participants will get to know their police department and its officers, receiving hands-on instruction. Topics of instruction include field training process, traffic stops, use of force, crime scene investigation and more.

Applicants must be 18-years-old or older, sign a waiver, and will be subjec to a background check. They also must live, work, or own a business in Mount Pleasant or Titus County. A completed application must be submitted by May 1, and applications can be picked up at the police department.
