MPHS welcomes the Class of 2028

Mount Pleasant High School held its annual Tiger Expo on Thursday, March 21 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. for the MPHS Class of 2028. Teachers and students set up booths in the old gym for incoming freshmen and their parents to preview elective options and talk to coaches, directors, and sponsors.

  The Priefert family is celebrating 60 years of being a leader in Texas’ favorite businesses: ranch and rodeo. Marvin Priefert– the man who started the Priefert legacy– made history in 1964. That was the year he invented the first gliding-action, fully-opening headgate.

Though Marvin jumpstarted the family down the ranching path, Priefert has spread into all kinds of businesses. Besides ranch and rodeo, Priefert has gone into the poultry industry, roping, and the production of wildlife-handling equipment.

A cozy and welcoming restaurant is celebrating over a decade of bringing Thai food to Mount Pleasant. When Jeed Castle started up her restaurant, Thai Lanna, she knew it would be hard work. Today, her business continues to thrive as she introduces more Texans to the food of her homeland.

“I started working in restaurants for many years. I served people, waited tables, studied all kinds of food. I’m just a people person and I love serving them,” Jeed said. It was finally in 2011 that Jeed’s dream came true and she opened the doors of Thai Lanna.
