Red Devils fall at Lindale; travel to San Antonio Saturday

The Chapel Hill Red Devils hit the road Tuesday night, traveling to Lindale after a successful season opener against Martin’s Mill Saturday. Unfortunately, a hot-shooting Lindale team held off a late charge from the Devils to pick up a 56-46 win over Chapel Hill.

Lady Brahmas win home opener over L-K

After a close loss at Liberty-Eylau Tuesday, the Pewitt Lady Brahmas returned home Friday for their first home game of the season as they took on Linden- Kildare. Pewitt controlled the action from start to finish as they picked up a 58-36 win over the Lady Tigers.

Hawks open district play with comfortable win

The CHAAMP Hawks Men’s basketball team took on the King’s Academy Knights on the road this past Monday and improved to 4-0 on the season by virtue of a 59-40 victory. King’s Academy, the reigning NTAA district champions, eliminated the Hawks in postseason play last year.

Mount Pleasant claims 20 spots on all-district team

It wasn’t the ending to the season the Mount Pleasant Tigers hoped for. However, the coaches of District 8-5A Div. II saw many of the strides the #Family made and recognized several Tigers with inclusion in the All-District team, released this past week.

Lady Brahmas fall short at Liberty-Eylau

Lady Rebels, Lady Bulldogs honored on all-district team

The 17-2A all-district volleyball team had a distinct Titus County-area flavor to it after this past season. With two teams from the area a part of the district, this corner of Northeast Texas was well-represented on this year’s all-district team, announced recently.
Graham Breeden of Terrell arrowed the heavy 11-pointer he called “Browser” while hunting from a ground blind on the family’s 1,100 cattle ranch in Kaufman County. The buck has been has been rough scored at 163 gross, according to the Boone and Crockett scoring system.

Other Texas Whoppers

While Corley’s buck is sure to rank among the top archery bucks from the Pineywoods this season, hunters from other regions of the state have reported some whoppers, as well. One of the best free ranging bucks reported from North Texas belongs to Nathan Martin.

Here’s an entertaining deer hunting story fresh out of the woods of eastern Texas that hunters everywhere can learn a few good lessons from. Clayton Corley spent nearly two years getting his education. Corley is a Lufkin archer who arrowed his first deer with a bow when he was only 8 years old.

HB teams drop matinee at home against CHAAMP

Harts Bluff opened the home portion of their 202223 basketball season Saturday with a matinee against cross-town neighbor CHAAMP. Bulldog Gymnasium was packed for the afternoon affair, which even featured longtime NBA player and current East Texas referee Greg Ostertag.
