With a playoff berth in view, the Rivercrest Rebels looked to help their own cause last week with two district games in what’s been a back-and-forth district race. Rivercrest welcomed Ore City to town Tuesday in a battle of Rebels.

Lady Tigers win finale, open playoffs with rematch Friday

In their final home game of the season, Mount Pleasant softball sent off seniors Paris Beard, Jordyn Hargrave and Jenna Cook with a 5-3 win over Texas High. Mount Pleasant will meet Huntsville in a rematch of last season’s bi-district matchup in a best of three series at Waxahachie High School.

Black and gold hunting for gold:

Mount Pleasant will send six athletes to the upcoming regional track meet after their performances in the area meet last week in Whitehouse. As a team, the Tiger boys finished second overall at the area meet while the Lady Tigers tied for 10th.

Tiger baseball snaps six-game skid with win at Tyler

A tough stretch finally ended for the Mount Pleasant baseball team. The Tigers closed their week last week at home against Texas High, hoping to close the home slate with a win. Prior to the game, the team recognized its lone senior, Will Luck, on Senior Night.

The Chapel Hill ISD Rodeo Team recently had great success at the Texas Junior High Rodeo Association/Texas High School Rodeo Association Region 4 competition. “The Hill” had 5 students qualify for their state competitions, which will take place this summer.
Chapel Hill senior Katie Hart won the regional golf tournament held this past week in Bullard. Hart has advanced to the state golf tournament every year for the last three years, winning the state championship as a sophomore and finishing third in a playoff last year. Hart finished second in her two previous trips to the regional tournament. The state golf tournament will be held at Austin’s Jimmy Clay Golf Course May 15-16. COURTESY PHOTO

Harts Bluff’s Alexa Arzate won the 100 meter hurdles at Wednesday’s 15-16 2A Area Track Meet, held in Cooper. Arzate also advanced to regionals in the 3,200 meters and as part of Harts Bluff’s 4x400 meter relay team.

Harts Bluff and Rivercrest’s track teams traveled to Cooper Wednesday for the 15-16 2A area meet. Both teams ensured they will have a presence at the upcoming regional track meet, with 18 athletes advancing from the two schools.
