Mount Pleasant’s Colton Jaggers throws a pitch during a recent game. The Tigers won their season finale at Longview, 11-0. Jaggers held the Lobos to just three hits and struck out one on the evening. Colby Porter finished with three hits, two doubles, an RBI and scored three times.

MP track picks up 9 top-10 finishes at regional track meet

In a tough 5A Region II, the Mount Pleasant track teams put up a solid showing at this past weekend’s regional track meet, held at the University of Texas-Arlington.
Senior Xavier Hills just missed a state berth in the triple jump, finishing third with a jump of 45-6.25.

Lady Tigers fall in bi-district series

The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers took on Huntsville in their bi-district playoff matchup, played over the weekend at Waxahachie High School. The Lady Tigers fell to the Lady Hornets in the best of three series, 2-0, falling in game one, 14-4 and in game two, 10-0.

6 Tigers named to 15-5AAll-District soccer team

The Mount Pleasant Tiger soccer team underwent a trial by fire as a young squad took on a demanding schedule. The Tigers met the challenges and went through the fire to clinch a playoff berth and the coaches of 15-5A recognized six team members with All-District honors.

Lady angler Lea Anne Powell of Lake Jackson displays the 12- pound, 3-ounce bass she caught in February at Lake O.H. Ivie. Powell, who caught the fish on spinning rod, has submitted an application to the International Game Fish Association to have the fish certified as a 12-pound line class world record.

Last December, Smith made his first ever fishing trip to Texas.

Lady Rebels finish 2nd in district; take on L-K Friday

The Rivercrest Lady Rebels won their final two games of the regular season – 9-0 over Detroit and 4-2 at Alba-Golden – to clinch second place in district. The Lady Rebels open the playoffs at 6 p.m. Friday in a one-game series against Linden-Kildare at LeTourneau University in Longview.
