Mount Pleasant Junior High volleyball team wins Mount Vernon tournament

The Mount Pleasant Junior High 7th grade “A” team won the Mount Vernon Junior High Volleyball tournament on Saturday, September 17. The Lady Tigers defeated Mount Vernon and Pittsburg. They were down 0-9 in the last set vs. Pittsburg, but managed to fight their way back from that deficit to claim the championship. They are currently 4-3 for the season.

HB volleyball falls at Sulphur Bluff

A team will use its final games before district to get prepared for when the records basically reset to 0-0. Teams hope to pick up a win and momentum in those final matchups.

Second season: local teams open district play

The records going into Friday night have been thrown out for Mount Pleasant, Pewitt and Rivercrest. The Brahmas and Rebels kicked off district play Friday while the Tigers, observing their bye week this week, will kick off the slate next week at home.

It was a defensive slugfest in one half, an offensive fireworks show in the second. One team looking for its first win after facing what’s been a gauntlet in the early season run, one team playing with heavy hearts for injured teammate Cooper Reid.

Tiger XC Continues Running Strong at Hallsville

The Mount Pleasant high school and junior high cross-country teams traveled to Hallsville last weekend in their third meet of the year. The varsity boys took third place with three top ten finishers and the JV girls took first place with four runners finishing in the top ten. The junior high boys competed well with one runner finishing in the top ten and junior high girls took third place with two top ten finishes.
