The Chapel Hill Lady Devils were looking to bounce back after two losses to the district favorites – a tough three set loss at Harmony and a close three set loss at Mount Vernon. Sometimes, when the road gets rough, there truly is “no place like home.” The Lady Devils returned to their home court Tuesday in front of an enthusiastic crowd to take on Winona, looking for their second district win and sent the home fans home happy with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-19) win.

Harts Bluff Lady Bulldogs fall at Detroit

The Harts Bluff Lady Bulldogs looked to finish the first round of district play with a win over a team who won a district championship last season when they traveled to Detroit Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, a Detroit team still licking their wounds from a tough road loss at Rivercrest bounced back and withstood the Lady Bulldogs’ best shots as the Lady Eagles claimed a 3-0 victory over Harts Bluff (17-25, 12-25, 17-25).

Tiger JV comeback attempt falls short against Mavs

The Mount Pleasant JV football team was looking for a win at home when they welcomed the Marshall Mavericks to town Thursday night. For the second consecutive home game, the Tigers battled to a furious finish, but a slow start and a bad bounce on an onside kick gave Marshall a 34-22 win over the Tigers.

With a three-game win streak under their belts, things were looking up for the Rivercrest Rebels as they traveled to Cooper to meet the district favorite Bulldogs Friday. That confidence likely remained high as the Rebels and Bulldogs battled to a standstill in the first quarter, with Cooper holding a slim 6-0 lead.

Tiger XC Hosts Titus County Fair Invitational

The Mount Pleasant Tiger cross country team hosted their annual Titus County Fair Invitational Meet last Saturday with over 20 schools competing for the top prize. Mount Pleasant teams performed well as boys’ varsity took 1st place, girls’ varsity 2nd place, girls’ JV 2nd place, boys’ JV 2nd place, junior high girls 8th place, and junior high boys 2nd place.

Only the beginning: HB volleyball wins first district game

The Harts Bluff Lady Bulldog volleyball team needed only three days after the first district game in school history to snag the first district victory in school history. Friday at Bulldog Gymnasium, the Lady Bulldogs picked up a 3-0 win (25-11, 26-24, 25-16) for the team’s first-ever district win.

For several years, Texas High has managed to be both the hunters and the hunted. Year in and year out, the Tigers of Texarkana have been the hunters for trophies not only in district, but also the state. They are also the team their district foes hunt to try to take down in the hopes of taking the crown out of Texarkana.
