The founder of a popular charity bass tournament benefitting children’s hospitals recently announced a rule change for the upcoming 2024 event that has grabbed the attention of the fishing community and stirred some debate among anglers who enjoy casting for cash.

Titus County welcomed several medium and small sized schools to courts at Harts Bluff and Chapel Hill for the first Titus County Throwdown, held over the weekend. It was a successful tournament for Titus County’s three participants.

MPHS anglers close out fall season on Lake Tawakoni

The Mount Pleasant High School Bass Fishing Team finished the fall season at the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament on Lake Tawakoni on Saturday, December 2. First for the Tigers, the team of Clayton Miller and Rolston Morton placed 19th out of 145 boats with 4 fish weighing 9.
The Chapel Hill Lady Devils came out on top in the second annual Regan Stiles Invitational Tournament, held over the weekend in Longview at Pine Tree High School. The Lady Devils defeated Jacksonville, 46-44; Alba-Golden, 48-29; Beckville, 53-10; Chireno in the semifinals, 51-45; then won over Jacksonville in the title game, 40-30. Mackenzie Espinosa was named tournament MVP. The Lady Devils have won six straight games going into their matchup this past Tuesday at Lindale. COURTESY PHOTO

The Harts Bluff Lady Bulldogs won their first tournament in program history over the weekend with three wins in the James Bowie Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Harleton in their opening game, 27-23, then won their semifinal matchup over the host Lady Pirates, 40-33.
