MP, CH welcome teams to annual TRMC Tiger Town Tournament

TRIBUNE PHOTOS / QUINTEN BOYD A total of 20 teams traveled to Mount Pleasant and Chapel Hill high schools for the annual TRMC Tiger Town Tournament recently. The Tigers claimed the Large School championship while the Red Devils won the Small School title.

Nearing the Christmas break, the Rivercrest Rebels and Lady Rebels were searching for wins to make the break just a little more merry and bright. The Lady Rebels got that win in their next to last game before the break, rolling past North Hopkins, 61-34.

The Chapel Hill Red Devils and Lady Devils will both go into the holidays on a good note. The Lady Devils traveled to Central Heights recently for the Central Heights Holiday Hoopfest, bringing home the tournament title after finishing undefeated for the event.

The state-ranked Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers kicked off district play the right way last week with two wins to open the slate. In Tuesday’s district opener, the Lady Tigers picked up a 55-38 win over Marshall.

Brahmas fall in hardwood Morris County Showdown

Friday added another chapter in the family reunion/ rivalry that is Pewitt-Daingerfield, with the Tigers traveling to Pewitt to take on the Brahmas on the hardwood Friday. In front of a packed house with an animated atmosphere, the Tigers used their length and speed to pick up a 74-52 win over the Brahmas.

Resetting the record: Tiger soccer looks for return to regional tournament

Last year, the goal was to “set the record straight.” The Mount Pleasant Tiger soccer team met that goal emphatically, advancing to the regional tournament before falling to eventual state champion and personal hurdle Frisco Wakeland. The Tigers, who have won the regional tournament twice in school history, will be looking to add a third to their ledger this season.

The Rivercrest Lady Rebels brought home another top three tournament finish last weekend, finishing third at the North Hopkins Tournament. It’s the team’s second consecutive third place tournament finish after last week’s Celeste Tournament and their third top-three tournament finish this season. The team also finished second in the Bland Tournament last month.

Two East Texas schools received the opportunity to put up shots in the same arena as current and former Dallas Maverick stars Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd and Luka Doncic Wednesday afternoon. Harts Bluff took on McLeod in the Court of Dreams game, played at Dallas’ American Airlines Center, serving as the opening act before that night’s Mavericks game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Hawks cruise by Kings Academy, improve to 8-0

The CHAAMP Hawks men’s basketball team hosted the King’s Academy Knights in Winfield this past Monday night. The Hawks (8-0, 4-0) comfortably defeated the Knights 56-37 to earn their fourth district win of the season.
