MP wins first two games of 2024

The Mount Pleasant Tigers kicked off 2024 with two district wins. The Tigers started the new year with a 56-46 win on the road at Hallsville. Mount Pleasant returned home Friday to host Texas High.

HB teams pick up wins before, after Christmas

In their respective final games before Christmas, the Harts Bluff Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were searching for a win in their home matchup against Como-Pickton.

We’re headed down the home stretch of another Texas deer season. While rutting activity is waning across much of the state, it’s just now about to get cranked up down south. Some of the year’s best hunting in the Brush Country and Mexico always happens around the Christmas rush.

State-ranked Tigers, Devils pick up road wins last week

And now, a round up of local basketball action from last week: In their lone game last week, the 17th-ranked (TABC) Mount Pleasant Tigers won on the road at Royse City, pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 52-44 win.

Hard-hitting Jeffery to fly on defense at TAMUC

Antez Jeffery and his family all wore matching shirts for his signing event Thursday afternoon. The shirts featured a picture of Jeffery and the quote, “Once you leave the ground, you fly. Some people fly longer than others.
Crappie anglers at Lake Fork and Lake O’ the Pines are reminded to abide by special “no cull” rule currently in effect. Anglers are required to keep every crappie they catch, up to a legal limit of 25 fish, regardless of size. It is illegal to release any crappie on either lake during the three-month period spanning December 1 to February 28.

Crappie fishermen headed to Lake Fork and Lake O’ the Pines in eastern Texas between now and February 28 are reminded of a special “no cull” regulation that is now in effect on those two impoundments.
