Colwell picks up first win as Eagles coach

Northeast Texas Community College first year Head Coach, Haley Colwell picked up her first win as a Collegiate coach. Colwell and the NTCC Eagles Softball team went to North Central Texas Community College on Wednesday, February 21 and picked up the win 3-0 over NCTC.

Harts Bluff boys’ basketball coach Bradley Lambeth accepted congratulations after his team made history, but made sure to note that it was his team that did the hard work. “Those boys went out there and played their hearts out,” he said. “It was all them. I just sat on the bench and sweated it out.

It’s been a successful season for Mount Pleasant’s local basketball teams. The Tigers finished second in District 15-5A, winning a bi-district title and battling with 5A’s number one team in the area round. Mount Pleasant finished their season 28-8.

MPHS Lady Tiger Powerlifters qualify for Regionals

After four meets, the Mount Pleasant High School Lady Tiger Powerlifting team has qualified 10 lifters for the Regional meet with 1 additional lifter named an alternate. MPHS competes in Region 3 Division 1 which encompasses all 5A and 6A high schools in the Northeast Texas area.

MPHS Bass Fishing team opens spring season on Lake Bob Sandlin

The Mount Pleasant High School Bass Fishing Team opened their spring season at the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament on Lake Bob Sandlin on Saturday, February 17. First for the Tigers, Kamen and Khloe Dunn, placed 15th out of 138 boats pulling in four fish weighing 9.84 pounds.
Max Daniel and the fourth-ranked Chapel Hill Red Devils traveled to Tenaha to take part in the East Texas Playoff Preview this past weekend. The Devils took on 2As third-ranked team, Beckville, snapping the Bearcats’ 10-game winning streak with a 65-53 win in the battle of ranked playoff teams.
