Mount Pleasant High School swimmers advance to regional finals

The Mount Pleasant High School Tiger Swim Team competed against 34 teams and 289 individuals at the 4A-5A Regional Swim Meet at the New Caney ISD Natatorium on February 6-7. The Girls team finished 13th and the Boys 16th at the meet with all team members advancing to the finals on day two.

Tigers conquer Longview, clinch District Championship

The Mount Pleasant Tigers took a 56-45 win on the road Tuesday night as they had to fight from behind in a hostile Lobo Coliseum. With the win, the Tigers clinched their third district championship in the last four years, and fourth overall under head coach Joey Chism with two games remaining on the regular season schedule.

Webster’s career high leads Tigers over Pine Tree

The Mount Pleasant Tigers took down the Pine Tree Pirates 65-36 at home Friday night in front of an electric atmosphere. With the Mount Pleasant student section and Goin’ Gold Pep Band in full force, Willie Williams Gym was turned into a deafening playoff environment and the Tigers on the court didn’t disappoint. The victory for Mount Pleasant moved the Tigers into the 30-win plateau for the second time in the last four years and only the third time in school history. The Tigers magic number is now down to one which will secure their third district championship in the last four years.

Hawks use 4th quarter run to close out Warriors

he CHAAMP Hawks boy’s Varsity basketball team played their final game of the regular season at home against the Paris Homeschool Warriors on Friday night. The game started slowly before CHAAMP eventually hit their stride and put the Warriors away, 49-25.

Playoff positioning for area teams

Area basketball teams are closing in on playoff berths as the second season gets set to begin. The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers (29-0) have almost clinched a district championship by virtue of their sweep of Tyler High and Tyler’s sweep of Longview.
