The Chapel Hill Red Devil soccer team took the field over the past week, hitting the road to take on the district frontrunners in one of their two games. In the game against district leader Sulphur Springs, the Devils played a close game against the Wildcats in the first half.

Mount Pleasant’s soccer teams find themselves in the midst of a battle for playoff positioning in a strong 15-5A. The Tiger boys went 2-1 in their last three district games.

Head Coach Tina Carrillo’s Lady Tigers won their third consecutive district championship this season and entered Friday’s area round matchup with Crandall – a rematch of a November tournament game won by the Lady Tigers – with a record of 34-0.

The Rivercrest Rebels bounced back from close losses in their first three district games to give themselves a shot at a playoff berth as the season neared its end. The Rebels kicked off their week at district rival Clarksville and finished the week with a chance to clinch a playoff berth with a win at Detroit.

It is said that styles make fights. The three meetings between the Rivercrest Lady Rebels and Clarksville Lady Tigers proved that adage correct.

Mineola led after the first quarter, 14-4, but Chapel Hill battled back and finished the game by outscoring the Yellowjackets in the second half, 30-14. Buchanan led Chapel Hill with 22 points, two rebounds and three assists.

It was a fitting birthday present for Mount Pleasant Lady Tiger Head Coach Tina Carrillo. The undefeated, sixth (TABC) and fourth (TXHSGBB) ranked Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers shook off a slow start to build a 26-point halftime lead and cruised to an 82-44 win over Nacogodoches in their bidistrict round playoff game at Tyler Legacy High School.

With a playoff opportunity on the line, the Harts Bluff Bulldogs looked to control only what they could control. The Bulldogs’ playoff hopes partially rested on another game’s results Friday, but for it to matter, the Bulldogs needed a win over a James Bowie team with their eyes on a shared district title.

A year after a shared district title, the Chapel Hill Red Devils decided they weren’t happy about sharing. The Red Devils have blazed through the 2022-23 basketball season, currently ranked eighth in Class 3A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and third by MaxPreps and will go into the playoffs as sole district champions.
