Tigers fall to The Colony in area

The Mount Pleasant Tigers opened up the Class 5A, Division 2 basketball post season last week with a convincing 70-47 win over Denison in bi-district, but fell to Lewisville The Colony in the area round on Friday night in Royce City, 55-40.

Red Devils advance to regional semifinals

The Chapel Hill Red Devils (19-6) collected two wins last week over Redwater and Edgewood to punch a ticket to the Class 3A, Division 2 regional semifinals this week. Coach J.D.

Bulldogs punch ticket to regional semifinals

The Harts Bluff Bulldogs captured two wins last week, defeating Boles (66-41) and Alvord (62-59), to advance to the regional semifinals. The ‘Dogs were set to face Waco Meyer (33-3) in that regional semifinal contest on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in Eustace at 6 p.m.

Lady Tiger Powerlifting closes regular season at home

Lady Tiger Powerlifting placed 2nd at their Last Chance Qualifier meet on Friday, February 14 at Mount Pleasant High School. This meet was the final opportunity for lifters to qualify for the Regional meet in March.

MPHS senior selected DAR Good Citizen

Mount Pleasant High School selected senior, Tanner Marshall, as the school winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen award. Marshall was presented a certificate and pin at the awards banquet on Monday, February 10, at St. Andrew Methodist Church.

MPHS Choir members advance to UIL State Solo and Ensemble contest

The Mount Pleasant High School Choir competed at the Regional UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall on Friday, February 7. Seventeen earned first division ratings with sixteen MPHS soloists advancing to the state contest, up from five state qualifiers in 2024.
