Rebels fall in season opener against QC, 26-18

Rivercrest’s opening game at The Swamp against Queen City Friday was, for all intents and purposes, a dogfight. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-point lead before the Rebels answered, but Queen City scored last in both halves to hold off Rivercrest, 26-18 in the season opener.

Lady Hawks start volleyball season 8-5-1

It’s slated to be an interesting season for the Christian Homeschool Athletic Association of Mount Pleasant (CHAAMP) – a team that does not currently have its own home gym. The Lady Hawks are playing all of their games on the road this season and making the most of it, picking up eight wins and a tie in their first 14 games.

Lady Devils follow tournament performance with win at Hooks

The Chapel Hill Lady Devils had a strong performance at the Mount Pleasant Tournament last weekend and looked to follow it with a road win in Bowie County Tuesday night as they took on Hooks. The Lady Devils held off a strong Hooks team they could see later in the year as a playoff opponent as they picked up a 3-2 win (25-21, 21-25, 20-25, 25-20, 15-6).

STAAR scores show continued struggles in math, reading

Texas public student scores in standardized testing continue to improve since the pandemic, but more than half of those taking the test still struggle with math and just under half read below grade-level, the Texas Tribune reported.
