Mount Pleasant Junior High students qualify for state rodeo

Three Mount Pleasant Junior High School students and members of the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Team have qualified for the Texas Junior High State Finals in June. To qualify, team members competed in Regional Rodeos and had to consistently be in the top 10 in their events over the course of 12 rodeos.

It’s always a tall order for a fishing guide when a customer shows up with a bold request aimed at topping their personal best. Kevin Williford’s order was way taller than most. Williford is a 58-year-old hospice nurse from Woodville who enjoys wetting a hook to unwind on his days off.
Robert Butler and Brian Mater cracked 31.67 pounds on five bass to take the top spot in the Bass Champs team event held March 15 in Cedar Creek. They won $35,000, including contingency bonuses. The anglers said they caught the winning sack flipping Texas rigs in 3-5 feet of water. (Bass Champs)

Anglers are enjoying the first full spring of fishing at Bois d’ Arc Lake in Fannin County. A few have already found the big ones biting.Located near Bonham, 16,600-acre Bois d’ Arc (pronounced Bo-Dark) opened for recreational boat traffic and fishing last April.
