Last Friday, representatives from MPHS cheerleading, Tiger Dolls, Tiger football and Lady Tiger Volleyball presented “Tigers on Tour,” a traveling pep rally that visited our littlest Tigers at Child Development Center, E.C. Brice, Frances Corprew, Vivian Fowler, and Annie Sims Elementary Schools.

CHAAMP and Harts Bluff Volleyball: Friendly Rivals

CHAAMP (Christian Homeschool Athletics Association Mt. Pleasant) varsity volleyball team played the Harts Bluff on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Both teams took to the court to the applause of fans and chants of both the Bulldog and Hawks cheer squads. But after both teams settled into their positions, and the Liberos E. Hulen and P. Solorio subbed on—before the ball ever crossed the net—smiles and friendly calls could be seen and heard.

Brahmas fall in district opener at Hooks

The Pewitt Brahmas hoped to kick off district play by kicking their losing streak to the side. Unfortunately, the Hooks Hornets controlled the action from the start, negating any flashes shown by the Brahmas as the Hornets won, 47-6.

Red roll reaches five straight for Lady Devils

The Chapel Hill red roll continued Friday as the Lady Devil volleyball team stretched their winning streak to five games and kicked off district play with a win at home over Quitman, 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-13).

CHAAMP Hawks Varsity Volleyball team sees loss against ETCS

CHAAMP (Christian Homeschool Athletics Association Mt. Pleasant) varsity volleyball team played East Texas Christian School (ETCS) Friday night for their first district loss. The beginning of the first set contained a lot of back and forth in the scores until the Hawks took control halfway through and stayed ahead. A kill by M. Simmons cinched the game at 25-15. T. Ruest and M. Hulen led the attacks in the second set, and the scores remained close until ETCS had a run of 8 points to take the lead. The second set ended 20-25. The third and fourth sets continued in the same manner (21-25, 19-25), with ETCS taking the game. T. Reust served the most points (12) with 0 errors out of 18 attempts. M. Hulen led kills with 26 attacks and 12 kills with 6 errors. Libero, E. Hulen, had 27 digs with 3 errors, and received 24 serves with 4 errors. Sophomore setters, P. Reust and M. Simmons, set up 11 and 16 assists. CHAAMP plays next at Harts Bluff on Tuesday.

Loss to Emerson secondary to concern for injured Tiger Isaiah Hunter

When the night started, Mount Pleasant – fans and the Tiger football team – were hoping to see an upset in their game against 5A Division II’s third-ranked team, Frisco Emerson. By the end of the evening, both teams had battled in a hard-fought game, but came together in prayer for one of their own after an injury.

Ignite Youth Club event slated Sept. 23

April Smith & The Company will be performing LIVE at the upcoming COWBOY UP for Ignite Youth Club of Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, September 23rd. The live indoor concert will start at 7:00 pm and will host a Dolly Parton Look Alike Contest, Silent Auction and COW PATTY BINGO. Tables for 8 are available for $600.
