Hampton signs basketball scholarship

Mount Pleasant’s Eva Hampton recently signed with National Park College in Hot Springs, Arkansas to play basketball. Eva was a 2-year varsity basketball player for the Lady Tigers where she was a team captain and earned honorable mention all-district the past two seasons.

Tigers eliminated in back-to-back one-run games

The Mount Pleasant Tigers were eliminated by Melissa in a best-of-three bi-district series this past weekend as the Cardinals pulled out back-to-back one-run victories.Despite out-hitting Melissa 8-3 in Game 1 at Melissa on Thursday night, the Tigers lost 4-3.

Harts Bluff’s Gonzalez brings home silver

Harts Bluff junior Alexis Gonzalez was returning to defend her state title in the Class 2A high jump event at the UIL State Track & Field Championships in Austin last week, but settled for the second place silver medal this go-around with a height of 5-feet, 7-inches.

Tigers rally and hold on for 8-6 win over Texas High to clinch playoff berth

The Mount Pleasant Tigers broke a 6-6 tie and scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning as they held on for an 8-6 win over Texas High in Atlanta on Monday night to clinch a berth into the Class 5A UIL state playoffs.

MPHS angler qualifies for State tournament

Three Mount Pleasant High School boats competed at the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) Regional tournament on Lake Palestine on Saturday, April 26 with all three reeling in catches. Anglers in 212 boats were competing for the chance to go to the State tournament at the end of April.

MPHS seniors honored with Willie Williams awards

Two Mount Pleasant High School Tiger basketball players were honored Friday, April 25 with awards in honor of longtime MPISD educator and supporter, Willie Williams. The ceremony was appropriately held in the MPHS gym that bears his name.
