Harts Bluff runs well in Avery

Garrdner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. doesn’t have the only set of “Runnin’ Bulldogs” in the country. The Harts Bluff cross-country team could also lay claim to that mascot. Titus County’s Runnin’ Bulldogs kicked off their season in the Avery Cross Country meet on Aug. 26.

Northeast Texas Community College Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of new assistant softball coach Mikayla Krause. Coach Krause recently graduated from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.

NTCC soccer opens conference play

The Northeast Texas Community College Soccer teams hosted Blinn Junior College on Saturday in the 2021 Conference opener. The NTCC Women would start the season off with a 2-1 victory over the Buccaneers, while the Men’s team from NTCC eared a 1-0 victory over Blinn.

Rebels start season at DeKalb

The Rivercrest Rebels hope to take a primary step toward continuing their ongoing seven-year playoff streak in game one of the 2021 season as they open the year on the road against the DeKalb Bears. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at DeKalb’s Bear Stadium.

JV Tigers hold off Raiders

The Mount Pleasant TIger junior varsity football team opened their season by winning a shootout at home over Wylie East, 33-26. The TIgers overcame a big effort from Raider running back Ki’Neal Reed, who scored all four of Wylie East’s touchdowns.
