Homecoming next week

Mount Pleasant High School’s homecoming week starts Monday, with Tiger Fest starting at 5:30 p.m., pep rally at 7:45 p.m. and bonfire at 8:15 p.m. at the Tiger Tailgate area outside Sam Parker Field.

JV Tigers roll past Liberty-Eylau

Due to the fact that next week’s opponent, Arkansas High, does not have a JV team, the Mount Pleasant JV football team took on another Texarkana-area school Thursday evening. The Tigers proved to be up to the challenge of the schedule change, rolling to a 34-8 win over Liberty-Eylau.

Area teams bump their way into September

Rebels run away from Detroit, 38-6

The Rivercrest Rebels bounced back from a season opening loss at DeKalb with a runaway successful ground game, running away from Detroit, 38-6. JaQuan Brown opened the scoring for the Rebels with a 13-yard touchdown run. An interception by Connor Young ended an Eagle drive.

Brahmas hold off game Rabbits for first win of season

The mark of a tradition-rich team usually shows most in how they rebound after losses. For both Paul Pewitt and Atlanta, game two of the 2021 football season was an opportunity to showcase such resilience.

Tiger fans brought their school spirit to Friday’s game against the Sherman Bearcats. Touchdown! Cheerleaders and Tiger fans celebrate. The half time show included MPHS’s Goin’ Gold Band’s “Out of Oz” performance.

Lady Tigers volleyball begins
