Mount Pleasant High School’s homecoming week starts Monday, with Tiger Fest starting at 5:30 p.m., pep rally at 7:45 p.m. and bonfire at 8:15 p.m. at the Tiger Tailgate area outside Sam Parker Field.

JV Tigers roll past Liberty-Eylau

Due to the fact that next week’s opponent, Arkansas High, does not have a JV team, the Mount Pleasant JV football team took on another Texarkana-area school Thursday evening. The Tigers proved to be up to the challenge of the schedule change, rolling to a 34-8 win over Liberty-Eylau.

Area teams bump their way into September

The area’s volleyball teams looked to build momentum going into their district slates in the final few non-district games over the last week. A recap of recent games at Mount Pleasant, Chapel Hill and Rivercrest: The Mount Pleasant Lady TIgers went 4-2 in their six games to start September.

The game had it all -- several comebacks, a number of momentum shifts, a player channeling the wrong parts of Myles Garrett, several dominating performances. However, the game was decided by what one team didn’t have -- and what was left afterwards.

Rebels run away from Detroit, 38-6

The Rivercrest Rebels bounced back from a season opening loss at DeKalb with a runaway successful ground game, running away from Detroit, 38-6. JaQuan Brown opened the scoring for the Rebels with a 13-yard touchdown run. An interception by Connor Young ended an Eagle drive.
