Lady Tigers dominate All-District selections

After finishing undefeated in district and putting up one of their best seasons to date, the Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers were represented well with 10 selections to the District 15-5A All-District Team. Junior Paris Beard was selected District MVP with her stellar overall performance on the court.

MPHS Track revs up season at Marshall meet

The Mount Pleasant High School Tiger and Lady Tiger track teams competed in their first meet of the season in Marshall on Feb 14. Both teams still have athletes out with various other seasons still in play but the athletes that participated performed well.

In the playoffs, for a team to advance, it’s important to take an opponent’s best shot, then answer back with shots of their own.

Rebels roll past Como-Pickton, advance to area

Coming off losses in their final regular season game and in their warm-up game last week, the Rivercrest Rebels knew it would be important to get off to a fast start in their bi-district round game against Como-Pickton in Mount Vernon.

Lady Brahma softball jumps out to 2-0 start

The Pewitt Lady Brahma softball team hoped to kick off the 2022 season with their first wins under new head coach Travis Moore. They wouldn’t need long to pick up wins one and two. In their season opener at home, the Lady Brahmas rolled to a 21-hit performance in a 24-3 win over Avery.

Rebels drop finale, warm-up; meet C-P in bi-district

After clinching their first district championship since 2006, the Rivercrest Rebels hoped to gain some momentum leading into the playoffs.

Red Devil soccer falls to Panthers, Eagles

Cesar Valles sets up a defender during a recent game. The Chapel Hill Red Devil soccer team dropped both of their games last week, losing 6-2 to New Diana and 7-2 to North Lamar. The Devils took on Atlanta Tuesday and then will be off until March 1 when they host Pittsburg.

Lady Tiger comeback falls short in area round

The deeper a team goes in the playoffs, the tougher the competition becomes. A team’s strengths can be matched and sometimes, it comes down to a few bounces here and there.

Jackets sting Devils in seeding game

The Chapel Hill Red Devils and Mineola Yellowjackets were evenly matched over the course of the basketball season. Both teams finished tied for first in 13-3A, with each team winning over the other on their home court.

Bulldog boys win first-ever Homecoming game

Harts Bluff Early College High School has celebrated a number of firsts this year. Tuesday was no exception as the school – on their third attempt – hosted Homecoming festivities as the Bulldog teams took on the Paris Homeschool Warriors.
