Tigers ground Hawks in area round; advance to meet HP

When two teams find themselves playing on even terms, it usually takes one moment to turn the tide of momentum from one side to the other. Saturday at Greenville’s Lion Gym, Mount Pleasant had it happen three times.

Rebels fall to Knights in area round

All season, the Rivercrest Rebel basketball team looked to run, swinging the ball to its playmakers and creating good open shots. Unfortunately, this strategy was not a secret to their area round opponent, the Lindsay Knights, a team known for its defense.

Lady Brahmas send 2 lifters to regional meet

Two Pewitt girls’ powerlifters advanced to this past weekend’s regional powerlifting meet, held in Rice. Addison Perry advanced in the 123 lb. weight class and Emily Gabel advanced in the 181 lb. weight class. Gabel finished sixth overall with totals of 315 lbs. on squat, 135 lbs.

Chapel Hill sends 6 to regional powerlifting meet

Six Chapel Hill girls powerlifters took part in the Region 3 powerlifting meet, held in Fairfield. Rainie Mott (132 lbs.), Kristen Brown (132 lbs.), EmiLee Brown (165 lbs.), Marie Hernandez (198 lbs.), Bri Zaragoza (220 lbs.) and Flor Carillo (220 lbs.

NTCC Board holds February meeting

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular February meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Chairman Chuck Johns opened the meeting by announcing upcoming changes to the board. Place One and Place Five were up for reelection in May.

Defense and free throws seal Bi-District Championship for Tigers

The Mount Pleasant Tigers entered the 2022 UIL Playoffs on Friday in hopes of returning to the regional tournament for the third year in a row. Mount Pleasant claimed the 2-seed in District 15-5A which pitted them against the 3-seed Tyler of District 16-5A.
