MP basketball has nine players named all-district

The Mount Pleasant Tigers had nine basketball players recognized by the coaches of District 15-5A with the release of the All-District team, announced over the weekend, with three claiming superlative awards. Payton Chism was named District Offensive MVP.

Tigers fall in regional semis, finish season at 24-10

Some games, the outcome depends more on what happens between the trenches than the things your team may not have done well. Friday’s regional semifinal matchup between the Mount Pleasant Tigers and Frisco Memorial Warriors was just such a game.

Mount Pleasant Athletic Director Ritchie Pinckard recognizes that any time a school has an athlete sign at the next level, it’s a huge accomplishment. “Anytime we have a kid sign, it’s a proud day,” he said.

CHAAMP falls in district tournament, salvages 3rd place

The CHAAMP Hawks suffered a disappointing end to the 21-22 basketball season this past Saturday, finishing in third place in the first annual NTAA District Tournament. The Hawks lost to the eventual tournament champion King’s Academy Knights in their first game of the day.

Rebel basketball wins 4 superlative all-district awards

After a season that saw the team win its first outright district championship since 2006, the coaches of District 16-2A recognized several members of the Rivercrest Rebels, including claiming four superlative awards. Seniors Kamryn English and Darrion Ricks shared the district’s MVP award.

Cool, calm, Chism: Tiger guard sinks game-winner for regional tourney spot

If one were to look inside the veins of Mount Pleasant junior guard Payton Chism, it is completely possible that they would only find ice water. It was Chism’s final cool, calm and collected play that sent the Tigers back to the regional tournament.

In the second game of their second season as a program, the Harts Bluff Lady Bulldog softball team picked up its first win in school history on Friday with a win over Yantis at Heritage Park. Harts Bluff is 1-1 on the season thus far.

CH softball starts season 4-2

The Chapel Hill Lady Red Devil softball team hit the diamond hoping for a fast start to the new season. That fast start was achieved thanks to four wins in the team’s first six games. Chapel Hill kicked off the year against Alba-Golden, seeing a comeback fall just short, 6-5.
