Young Lady Tigers show grit, resolve in series against Huntsville

The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers knew they’d have a tough matchup in their bi-district round series against the Huntsville Lady Hornets. Huntsville came into the series at 22-10 and had won 11 consecutive games.

Generally, whether on the football field or basketball court, it was never hard to spot Ervin Mickens Jr. He was usually found in opposing backfields, whether as a defensive end or a linebacker, his iconic hair flowing from the back of his helmet.

Chapel Hill and Hooks battle to advance

The Chapel Hill Lady Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three series with Hooks on Wednesday with a commanding 11-5 win but lost in a nailbiter on Thursday 3-2 to even the series going into Friday night’s rubber match.

Brahmas snap skid with win over ‘Dogs, clinch playoff berth

The Pewitt Brahma baseball team found themselves in a slump at the worst possible time – in the midst of the playoff hunt. The Brahmas hoped to bounce back with wins over two of the teams in front of them among their last three games.

Building from the ground up: Bulldog baseball prepares for first UIL season

When establishing traditions, it’s normal to experience a few growing pains. In the midst of their second-ever season, the Harts Bluff Bulldog baseball team is growing on the go.

MP, CH, Rivercrest kick off softball playoffs

The UIL softball playoffs kick off this week and three area teams will be a part of the road to state. The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers, Chapel Hill Lady Red Devils and Rivercrest Lady Rebels all reached the playoffs.
