XC Tigers take third at Sulphur Springs

The Mount Pleasant Boys cross country team ran in the Sulphur Springs Invitational last weekend bringing home a third-place finish. After notching their first meet title at Pine Tree in the previous week, the Tigers still performed well as they continue to tune up for the district meet to be held at Hallsville Oct 14. Mount Pleasant bested all their district opponents participating in the meet with 95 team points to Hallsville’s 113 points, Pine Tree’s 125 points, Sulphur Springs’ 148 points, and Texas High’s 207 points.

Lady Tigers lose to Marshall, host teacher appreciation night

The Mount Pleasant Lady Tiger volleyball team hosted Teacher Appreciation Night on Tuesday providing a meal for the teachers and honoring their favorite teachers this school year. All three teams also played their district match against Marshall, who is making a strong run for a district championship.

Tigers open fall golf season at Paris

The Mount Pleasant Tigers and Lady Tigers began their Fall golf season on Monday with the opening tournament held at Paris Country Club. Both teams performed well with several securing top finishes, an encouraging sign for the rest of the season.

Local volleyball teams continue to serve

A roundup of recent local volleyball action: The Pewitt Lady Brahmas bounced back from a close loss at Redwater to pick up a close home win over Hooks, 3-2 (12-25, 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 15-9). Makenzie Bottoms finished with seven kills, six aces and a block.

Every football team wants to start its season undefeated. They’d all love to finish undefeated, as well. Usually, a team will suffer its bumps and bruises along the way. At that point, it’s all in how a team bounces back from its setbacks.

Tiger cross country takes first at Pine Tree

The Varsity boys and JV girls both brought home the title last Saturday as both the high school and junior high cross-country teams competed at the Pine Tree Mike Darby Invitational. The Varsity boys posted a team total of 54 points with Jacksonville being the next closest team 12 points behind. The JV girls also won first with a team total of 35 points besting Kilgore who followed with 67 points.

Volleyball teams set up for district play

A look at last week’s volleyball action: The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers traveled to Texas High to take on the first place Lady Tigers Friday evening and will host Marshall Tuesday evening. The Pewitt Lady Brahmas traveled to Redwater for a tight district matchup in front of a packed Dragon Gymnasium.
