The Euterpean Club of Mt. Pleasant gathered in the country home of Nancy Alexander on April 21, 2022 at 3:45 PM to enjoy a program of music, “Singing Country Music”.

Housing Authority Commissioners reinstated

At the last meeting of the Mount Pleasant City Council, three members of the Mount Pleasant Housing Authority Board of Commissioners were reinstated for new terms. Roy Martin, Bobby Rice, and Kevin Rose will continue to serve Mount Pleasant on this board until June 30 next year.

MP 2040 plan nears completion

After months of community outreach and planning, the MP 2040 plan is nearing completion and updates have been presented to the City Council. Mark Bowers, a planner and designer for Kimley-Horn & Associates, presented the “plan in a nutshell” at the Council’s most recent meeting.

DEA Take Back event this Saturday

Local law enforcement agencies partner with Next Step’s coalitions to host the 22nd Semi-Annual DEA Take Back Event across East Texas Law enforcement agencies throughout East Texas are gearing up to collect hundreds of pounds of unwanted and expired prescription drugs at the semi-annual DEA Take Back event April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

MPISD provides child car seat installation

MPISD held a car seat safety check and provided safety inspections at the Child Development Center on April 20. The technicians demonstrated correct methods for the installation of car seats. This was a collaborative effort by the Mount Pleasant ISD Police Department, the Texas Department of Transportation-Atlanta Office, the Texas DPS, the Texas A&M Ag Extension-Bowie County office, and the Child Development Center Safety Technicians.

Transfer Panel planned for April 28

The NTCC Career and Transfer Center will host a Transfer Panel on Thursday, April 28 from 12:30-1:00 p.m. in BT 111B. The panel is designed for students wanting to transfer to a university. They will have the opportunity to meet with former students Daisy Banda and Andrew Juarez, who will share their personal transfer experiences.

MPHS Electrical students bring home ribbons from state

The MPHS Electrical students competed at the SkillsUSA State contest in Corpus Christi on March 30–April 4, 2022. In both the Commercial Wiring Exhibit category and the Innovative Job Exhibit category, the students received Superior Blue ribbons. The MPHS Electrical program is directed by Tim Davis.
