The Mt. Pleasant Rodeo Association held the first-ever PRCA sanctioned rodeo at the Mt. Pleasant Rodeo Arena this weekend. Cowboys came from all over to compete in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, bull riding, and barrel racing events.

MPHS students earn National Awards for Community Service Impact

The Mount Pleasant High School National Honor Society is thrilled to announce 16 students are being recognized by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView in the 5th Annual National Community Service Impact Awards. This program, open to all U.S. high school students, has been designed to connect student community service activities, skill development, and personal commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to transform our world. The Kroger Co. is presenting the third annual Zero Hero Awards to students for taking action to help create communities free of hunger and waste.

MPHS cosmetology students earn licenses

Eleven students in the Mount Pleasant High School Cosmetology program recently earned their cosmetology licenses after passing both a written and practical state exam. They are now fully licensed to work in any salon in the state of Texas.

MPHS Choir members earn medals at state

Eight Mount Pleasant High School Choir members qualified for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest held on May 28- 30 in and around the Austin area. Seven MPHS soloists earned State medals.

MPHS band members medal at UIL State Solo and Ensemble contest

Five Mount Pleasant High School Band students earned UIL State first division medals at the State UIL Solo and Ensemble contest held in and around the Austin area on May 28-30. To earn a first division medal, these students logged many hours of practice over the past semester on difficult musical selections chosen by the Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL).

Three NTCC history students emerged on top in the 2021 Bonnie Spencer competition, for the best student essays in history. Essays could have been entered from any history course from any history instructor, fulltime or part-time, on campus or off, such as with embedded dual history classes.
