Rhonda Kittle has been named Branch Manager of the Mt. Pleasant branch and Kimberly Ross has been named Branch Manager of the Clarksville branch of First Federal Community Bank, SSB in an announcement by Brad Meyers, President and CEO of First Federal.

Pond Maintenance—Part II

Ideal pond clarity should be between 18 and 24 inches. Having a “darker” pond will limit the vegetation in the middle because of the limited sunlight reaching the bottom. However, clarity of less than 18 inches can cause the phytoplankton (one-celled organisms that make the water greenish) to die off causing lack of oxygen in the water. This lack of oxygen can kill everything living in the pond.

The Northeast Texas Community College hosted their first Mad City Day for the year in the college cafeteria on July 6. Each student picked up a budget sheet listing total household income, whether or not they have a child, and tax information, as well as several rows to fill out including savings, housing, transportation, groceries, child care, etc.

Cypress Basin Hospice announces NYE Ball

Cypress Basin Hospice made a huge announcement this week in regards to their events for 2023. In a statement released on Thursday, Cypress Basin Hospice Director of Relations and Community Development Niki Huffman stated, “As many of you are aware and for those of you who might not be, the Mount Pleasant Civic Center will be closed January-April 2023 for renovations. As you know, Cypress Basin Hospice always holds its Hearts for Hospice Ball the first Saturday in February in this venue, so this minor disruption in our annual plan has allowed our committee to get creative.

City to host blood drive

The City of Mount Pleasant is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, July 27. The Carter BloodCare Bus will be parked at City Hall, located at 501 N.
