Chapel Hill Pep Squad ready to share school spirit

We’ve got spirit, yes we do! We’ve got spirit, how ‘bout you! The Chapel Hill Elementary Pep Squad, consisting of 40 girls in 3rd-5th grades, is ready to share school spirit and smiles across the campus and community throughout the 2022-2023 school year.

4-H Shooting Sports

Titus County 4-H is a youth development program open to all youth from 3rd to 12th grade and open to youth grades K-2 as a Clover Kid. While there are numerous project areas youth can participate in, one of the largest project areas in Texas 4-H is Shooting Sports.

Commissioners address feral hogs, policy manual

The Titus County Commissioners held a special meeting last week to address issues such as the approval of sheriff and constable fees such as subpoena fees, citations served and various legal documents that have to be served throughout the county. The fees were approved with no increase from the prior year’s rates.

MP man arrested for assault, drugs

Last Friday morning, July 29th, 2022, Titus County deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance on the 1300 block of F.M. 899. While investigating an alleged domestic assault, deputies learned of the presence of approximately three pounds of marijuana inside the residence.

Chapel Hill ISD Focused on School Safety

In preparation for the coming school year, the Chapel Hill ISD School Safety and Security Committee recently met to review plans and processes for maintaining a safe and secure school environment. This committee, which consists of law enforcement personnel from local agencies and school personnel involved in security, provided its report to the CHISD School Board on July 25th. Although plans and responses are unpublished to maintain security, Chapel Hill ISD is sharing what it can with the parents and staff to provide assurance to the community.

Walking billboards promote pedestrian safety

If you happen to visit a high-traffic area in one of the state’s larger cities, you might come across some folks wearing sandwich boards, such as one sees during tax season or mattress sales. The Texas Department of Transportation has adopted this marketing device to promote its “Be Safe. Drive Smart” pedestrian safety campaign this month.

So far June and July have been an extreme hot Texas summer—100’s plus. This means making sure all ages stay hydrated. It is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of dehydration, how to treat and prevent dehydration.
