Varroa Destructor
Tending God’s Lovely Creation
Public Enemy Number One for every beekeeper in America is the varroa destructor mite, or varroa for short. The mite jumped species from the Asian honeybee (Apis cerana) over to our Italian honeybee (Apis mellifera) in the 1960s and made its way to America in the late 1980s.

Annual Taste of Mount Pleasant slated for Dec. 1

The annual Taste of Mount Pleasant event will be held at Laura’s Cheesecake Dec. 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In addition to the local food vendors and their offerings, the event will also host a live and silent auction.
The event raises money for a different recipient each year.

Christmas parade next week

Mount Pleasant Rotary Club’s 32nd Annual Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 6 p.m. This year’s theme is “A Magical Disney Christmas.”
Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place floats as well as for vehicles entered in this years parade.

MPJH band students selected for Middle School All-Region Band

Twenty-two Mount Pleasant Junior High School band students traveled to Sulphur Springs Middle School on Saturday, November 11 to audition for the TMEA Region IV MS/JH All-Region Band. Sixteen were selected for the All-Region Band, six in the Symphonic Band and ten in the Concert Band.
