On Thursday, February 27, the Mount Pleasant city council, mayor, and the Economic Development Corporation gathered at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center for a town hall. The room was set up with chairs, filled with residents of the city and from all over Titus County.

During a special agenda city council meeting for Mount Pleasant on Wednesday, February 26, the council and mayor voted to approve the hiring of a new city manager after almost a year of the job being filled by Interim City Manager Greg Nyhoff.

Seven MPHS art students advance to state VASE competition

Mount Pleasant High School Art students entered 49 pieces in the Region 8 Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) competition on Saturday, February 22 at Chisum High School, competing against a total of 319 pieces. Artwork was scored as a 4 (Excellent), a 3 (Strong), a 2 (Developing), or a 1 (Emerging).
