Sports Editor This past weekend’s volleyball scrimmage at Hughes Springs brought in an interesting collection of teams. Hosting were the Lady Mustangs, who made the playoffs last season and have a new coach in former Mount Pleasant coach Melody Herron.

The heat didn’t put a damper on the 32nd annual Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament, held July 18 at the Mount Pleasant Country Club. Teams burned up the links with several impressive scores for the tournament.

Chism named MPHS assistant athletic director

Mount Pleasant ISD recently named head boys basketball coach Joey Chism as the district’s assistant athletic director. Athletic Director Joe Cluley said Coach Chism has helped make his transition to Mount Pleasant an easy one.
