Rebels clinch playoff berth with win at Boles, play Wolfe City for 3rd Friday

The Rivercrest Rebels followed their team motto this season –”Work Hard. Be Consistent.” – and it got them a return to the UIL playoffs.

2nd half run pushes Pine Tree past Tigers in rainshortened game

The only consistent thing in Friday’s Mount Pleasant- Pine Tree game was the rain. Neither the Tigers nor the Pirates could get much consistency going in the sloppy conditions.

Lady Brahmas fall short in district playoff against Queen City

All season, the Pewitt Lady Brahmas had to battle with teams who held a height advantage over them. Unfortunately, in their district playoff at Hooks against Queen City, that height disadvantage proved to be tough to overcome one more time.

In a season already filled with firsts for Harts Bluff Early College High School, the Lady Bulldog volleyball team had another one to add to a rapidly growing list.

Red Devil Runner headed to State

Senior Lucas Thomas is not only ready to run, he was born to run. A part of a family of runners, Thomas has made competing in cross country events for the Chapel Hill Red Devils look easy. Last week, Thomas placed 10th at the UIL 3A Regional Cross Country meet.

Goin’ Gold Band named Area Finalist, first time since 1989

The Mount Pleasant High School Goin’ Gold Band competed in the Area round of the UIL 5A Marching Competition on Saturday, October 22 at Mesquite Memorial Stadium. At the end of prelims, MPHS was named an Area Finalist, the first time the band has made it out of Area prelims since 1989.

Local volleyball teams prep for playoffs

The UIL state volleyball playoffs kick off this coming week and four local teams will compete in the hopes of bringing hardware to the area. The Harts Bluff Lady Bulldogs will make history Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Pittsburg High School as they take on Ore City in the bi-district round.

Fite takes 6th at Grace Fall Invitational

With multiple UIL competitions occurring at the same time last weekend, Mount Pleasant’s lone competitor at the Grace Fall Invitational swim meet in Tyler was freshman Ava Fite. In her first high school competition, Fite did not disappoint placing 6th in both races she competed in.

Brahmas rush for almost 600 yards in shootout win over Prairiland

A cornered or wounded entity is at its most dangerous. Backed against a wall with playoff chances on the line, the Pewitt Brahmas battled out of that corner and have now given themselves a shot at a playoff spot.
