Northeast Texas Community College Softball hit the road to Cisco, Texas this weekend to take on Pratt Junior College (Pratt, Kansas) and Cisco College on Saturday. NTCC would defeat Pratt 12-1 in game one and knocked off home team Cisco 14-3 to complete the two-game road trip with wins.
The Mount Pleasant High School UIL Academic team continued its season with its first face-to-face meet on Friday and Saturday, February 12-13 at the Winter Tiger Invitational held on the Mount Pleasant Junior High campus. Due to COVID restrictions the meet was smaller than in years past with 13 schools competing in UIL academic events, six in the large school and 7 in the small school division. Overall, Mount Pleasant High School took first place at the meet. Ten teams including Calculator Applications, Mathematics, Current Events, Spelling, Ready Writing, Literary Criticism, Social Studies, Accounting, Speech and Debate and Journalism all took 1st place team honors in their respective events.

A ten-day lay-off between games, which included the snowstorm of the century, seemed to chill the Tigers in Monday night’s bi-district matchup with Lufkin. But once the icicles thawed and the Tigers’ engines got revving, Mount Pleasant was able to surge to victory to advance to the next round of the playoffs.
The Chapel Hill Lady Devils posted an Area Championship. It was a tall task that the Lady Devils made happen as they were off for the past ten days due to the poor weather, had one practice and showed up and played the game. “Honestly, I was really proud of all the girls” said Coach Matt Garrett. “We were off twice as long as the Christmas break and every girl did the best they could in our one practice and the game. Those are tough situations to overcome. We were a bit worn out at the end of this one!” Coach Garrett finished.
