District 16-2A has become a dogfight on the boys side and a two-team race on the girls side. Rivercrest is looking to do its part to be one of the final teams standing on both sides.

Tiger running back/cornerback Zay Barksdale signed his Letter of Intent to play at North American University. Tiger tight end/safety Kyler Smith signed with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Tiger wide receiver Kevi Heath signed with Hardin- Simmons University.

Playoff positioning for area teams

Area basketball teams are closing in on playoff berths as the second season gets set to begin. The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers (29-0) have almost clinched a district championship by virtue of their sweep of Tyler High and Tyler’s sweep of Longview.
Chapel Hill Swim Team members Maverick VonReyn and Emma Snodgrass both medaled twice in the recent 8-4A District Championships. Red Devil swimmers VonReyn, Snodgrass, impress in the water this season

Most would not associate Devils with water. The Chapel Hill Swim Team is aiming to change that. Chapel Hill freshman Maverick VonReyn recently advanced to the UIL Regional Championship Meet, held Jan. 27-28 in Frisco. VonReyn advanced in the 50yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

Buzzer heave just short, Hawks fall to Chargers

The CHAAMP Hawks Varsity boys basketball team traveled to Longview Thursday night for an NTAA District rivalry matchup with the ETHS Chargers. The contest was the Chargers Senior Night game and emotions were high on both sides.
