Northeast Texas Community College Baseball made the trip east to take on Bossier Parrish Community College on Saturday. The Cavaliers would hold on for a 9-7 win in game one, and NTCC would earn the 11-3 victory in game two.
The Tiger and Lady Tiger golf teams have ratcheted up tournament play over the past week with both teams competing in tournaments to fine tune their swings for the district meet coming up in a couple of weeks. On March 3, the JV boys competed at the Pine Tree tournament held at Wood Hollow in Longview finishing in third place. Clayton Brison finished with a team best 88, Jacob Elliott followed with a 90, Micah Tucker shot a 99, and Matthew Tucker turned in a 101.
Northeast Texas Community College took on Trinity Valley Community College in the Conference home opener at Eagle field on Saturday, TVCC would defeat NTCC 8-5 in game one and 2-0 in game two.
Lady Tiger sophomore basketball player Paris Beard was recently named to the 5A All-Region team by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Beard was the leading scorer for the district champion Lady Tigers averaging 18.3 points per game along with 6.4 steals and 5.3 rebounds. Beard led the Lady Tigers two rounds deep in the playoffs for the second straight season. She was also named Offensive MVP for the district.
The Lady Tiger powerlifting team traveled to Whitehouse last Wednesday to compete in the regional powerlifting meet. The Lady Tiger team is comprised of fourteen total members, of which ten qualified for regionals. Out of those ten lifters, three lifters including senior Ashlynn Brooks, senior Jalissa Alvarez, and sophomore Nayeli Jaimes qualified for the state meet.
