The Chapel Hill Lady Devils hosted 5A Whitehouse this past Friday. The first quarter was a back and forth battle. Chapel Hill started out behind in the beginning but fought their way back. At the end of the first quarter, Chapel Hill held a narrow lead 17-15. The second quarter mirrored much of the first. Whitehouse would pull to get it close, but Chapel Hill would run the lead back out again. The second quarter ended with the Lady Devils narrowly winning again 14-9 to make the halftime score 31-24 Chapel Hill.
The Tigers put a positive cap on the season last Friday with a 41-13 romp over Jacksonville. The Tigers never trailed in the game and held the Indians scoreless through two and a half quarters. Mount Pleasant’s running game was strong as the Tigers amassed 367 yards on the ground and four rushing touchdowns. The win set the Tigers’ record at 4-6 on the season and left them two wins short of a playoff berth.
The Chapel Hill Lady Devils didn’t have one of their best nights this past Tuesday as they hosted Timpson. The first quarter saw the Lady Devils make some uncharacteristic errors, allowing Timpson to take an early lead. Timpson led after the first quarter 7-10. The second quarter saw much of the same, as Chapel Hill just didn’t have any rhythm in the game. The normal sharpshooting and tough defense just weren’t there. The Lady Devils lost the second quarter 8-16 to be behind at halftime 15-26.
The Mount Pleasant Tiger basketball team continued their winning ways on Tuesday, coming out on top 60-57 in a tough road game at Royse City. The Tigers had a difficult shooting night from the field but recorded a season high 18 free throw makes to secure the victory.
The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers played two games over Thanksgiving Break traveling to Tatum last Tuesday and hosting Tyler Legacy on Saturday. The Lady Tigers picked up a win and a loss and moved their overall record to 2-2.
