Mount Pleasant native wins 3rd Lady Bass Classic

Cheryl Bowden, a woman with roots and family in Mount Pleasant, won her 3rd Lady Bass Classic Title on October 11. The event spanned three days and during the championship, Bowden’s final bag was 11.41 lbs. That brought her final weight to 30.12 lbs. The closest her competitor’s got was 29.70 lbs.

Lady Red Devils varsity volleyball split on the week last week as they lost to Harmony 0-3 on Tuesday, October 22 and swept Jefferson 3-0 on Friday, October 25. Chapel Hill has secured a volleyball playoff spot, but opponent and other details are not available at this time.

The Mount Pleasant High School Tiger Swim team opened its season at the Texas High Aquatic Center in Texarkana on Saturday, October 12. All swimmers earned points for the team and most improved their times.

Mount Pleasant High School Cosmetology seniors ventured out into the “real world” on Friday, October 11. Their first stop was at Greenhill Villas where students gave manicures to the residents in preparation for their Senior Gala on October 17.

Mount Pleasant High School Cross Country ran in the UIL 10-5A district meet on Thursday, October 10. The Tigers brought home four medals including two regional qualifications, the JV girls district champion, and multiple personal and season best times.

The District 13-3A Cross Country Meet was held on Wednesday, October 9. The Chapel Hill Red Devils won the district title in multiple divisions. The XC team is led by Head Coach Brantlee Bynum and assistant coach Adrian Padron.

The Mount Pleasant High School Bass Fishing Team continued the 2024-2025 regular season at the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament on Lake Tawakoni on Saturday, October 5. MPHS had ten boats of the 159 competing.
