In 1994, Bryan Kerchal became first and only amateur angler to win the Bassmaster Classic. Sadly, his promising career came to a tragic ending 4 1/2 months later when he was killed in an airplane crash while traveling home after a sponsorship engagement. He was only 23. Bassmaster.com recently produced a touching video that chronicles Kerchal’s rise to the top. It’s worth the watch, bassmaster.com/ classic/video/the-cast-b-a-s-s-superstar-bryan-kerchal/.
