Strong second half propels Tigers over TACA, 68-51

In their last competition before the Christmas break, the Tigers hosted Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes(TACA) last Tuesday, a private school team out of Dallas that boasts several Divison I recruits. Mount Pleasant trailed by four points at the half but outscored TACA 45-24 in the second half to take the convincing victory. Sophomore guard Payton Chism set the tone for the Tigers with a game and season high 27 points shooting 67% from the field including a 4 for 7 performance from behind the arc.

Tiger Football earns district honors

The Mount Pleasant Tiger football team placed nineteen players on the All-District team this season reflective of the individual successes recognized by opposing coaches. Highly recruited defensive end Tre Emory received one of the highest honors earning 9-5A Defensive Player of the Year. Emory, a junior and three-star recruit, has already received offers from ten Division I colleges including TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. Emory finished the season with 48 tackles and recorded a team high 6 sacks all while wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks and notching multiple knockdowns each game.

CASA receives new volunteers

CASA of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties is pleased to welcome Ashley Dietz and Jennifer Tosh. Ashley and Jennifer took an oath before the Honorable Judge Loughmiller in Camp County on December 21, 2020. Ashley and Jennifer completed 30 hours of training and courtroom observation. Ashley and Jennifer are the newest CASA Volunteer who has accepted there the first case and advocating for children that are in the foster care system. CASA volunteers work for the best interest of the child/children making sure they have a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. CASA volunteers are citizens in our community, just like you, that want to make a difference in a child/children’s lives while they are removed from their families and placed in foster care.
