The Chapel Hill Red Devil Track teams competed in the District track meet on Wednesday and Thursday. It was a great meet with several athletes qualifying for Area.
Chapel Hill ISD and the Lady Devils will be saying goodbye to Coach Matt Garrett and Coach Courtney Garrett as they will be leaving Chapel Hill after six highly successful years. They will be moving back west toward where their children are attending college.
Both the JV and Varsity teams took down Pine Tree on Tuesday with the Varsity earning a much-needed district victory. The Tigers used a fifth inning rally to take the lead and held off the Pirates for the final two innings. The win improves Mount Pleasant’s overall record to 7-12-1 and their district record to 1-5.
After finishing regular season play, the Mount Pleasant High School Tiger and Lady Tiger golf teams competed in the two-day district tournaments held at the Tempest Golf Club in Gladewater. The boys’ tournament was held March 29-30 and the girls competed on March 31-Apr 1. For the first time in 16 years, the Tiger team of George Burrows, Brady Sisk, Matthew Peterson, Sam Sloan, and Kade Strickland advanced to the regional tournament finishing in second place just behind Texas High. The Lady Tigers fell just short of advancing finishing in third place.
An incredible offensive display saw the Lady Tigers post 30 runs on the board and clinch their ..... consecutive playoff berth. The win improves Mount Pleasant’s overall record to 17-6 and places them in second place with a district record of 7-2. With three games remaining in the regular season, the Lady Tigers will face top teams Sulphur Springs and Hallsville and fifth place Longview. Three straight wins would put them in great position to take the district title.
