The Chapel Hill Red Devil soccer team hoped for a fast start in the district schedule. Unfortunately, the start wasn’t what the Devils hoped for when winter weather caused havoc on their opener. The Devils started their season Monday at Pittsburg, but fell to the Pirates, 7-0.

Mount Pleasant’s J.D. Mendoza beats a Sulphur Springs player to the ball during Tuesday’s district soccer matchup. The Tigers defeated the Wildcats, 6-1, to up their district record to 2-0. The Tigers defeated Pine Tree, 2-1, to open the district slate.

PB1K: Mount Pleasant’s Beard honored for breaking 1,000 point threshold

Mount Pleasant junior guard Paris Beard was recognized prior to the start of the Lady Tigers’ district matchup against Texas High Tuesday. Going into Tuesday’s game, Beard had scored more than 1,400 points in her career and passed 1,000 points in November.

The Lady Tigers Uproar basketball program was recognized Tuesday during Mount Pleasant’s district game against Texas High. The program serves girls up to age 12 in grades 3-6 in Titus County and surrounding areas and provides a league and basketball camps for its players.
