Dual threat: Thompson signs to pitch, play in field at Grayson College

In previous years, talented baseball players would have to make a decision in their careers whether they wanted to pitch or play in the field. Things are changing on the diamond with more young players doing both after seeing Major Leaguers like Shohei Ohtani pull off pitching and fielding in games.

MPHS athletes to play in Red River FCA All Star Showdown games

Eight Mount Pleasant High School senior athletes have been chosen to play in the 2022 Red River Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) All Star Showdown. Athletes were drafted from multiple schools in our area to play in football, basketball, and baseball games in June.

Rebel run ends with 2-0 series loss to Centerville, but with promise for the future

They entered the regional semifinals as the only fourth place team in the state in any classification – and likely, as one of the younger teams in the state as well.

Mount Pleasant hurdler Derrick Marshall was always present to do what he needed to do, a fact that didn’t go unnoticed over his four years in the black and gold. “I am so thankful for Derrick,” said Mount Pleasant Athletic Director Ritchie Pinckard.

Young Lady Tigers receive All-District Accolades

With a team that consisted of all underclassmen, the Mount Pleasant Lady Tiger softball team made a strong showing in the district race this season and laid the foundation for an even better push next year.

A young squad of Rivercrest Lady Rebels was recognized by the coaches of District 17-2A with the recent release of the all-district team. Every player on the Lady Rebels’ roster received at least one honor, with the team taking home two superlative awards.

The UIL Class 3A girls’ state golf tournament at Austin’s Jimmy Clay Golf Course came down to the wire like the 2001 Masters. Three players at the heights of their games – one the defending state champion, one the defending state runner-up and one who was a member of the defending team champions.
